Jimmy Page
the "guitar hero" behind Led Zeppelin. Jimmy was born on January 9, 1944 in the English town of Heston, Middlesex. As a child he grew up listening to the music of the post-war rock'n'roll boom. At school he was described as a "bit of a loner", who seemed to spend all his time playing records and listening to the radio. Amongst his favourite players were Scotty Moore, who'd played on many Presley hits, James Burton and acoustic virtuoso Bert Jansch. "These records generated so much energy I had to be part of it. That's how I started," recalled Jimmy. Led Zeppelin would soar without any musical differences between band's members to hold things back. Fans of hard and progressive rock were spoilt for choice, and sober blues lovers were in for a shock! Their ears weren't attuned to the roaring magnificence of Jimmy's unstoppable guitar. The Led Zeppelin experience shocked the ears and minds of a generation.
