Jesus Christ Superstar
Jesus Christ Superstar' rocked all ages
since its inception in the early 70's.
The story focuses on the last week of
Christ's life seen from Judas eyes.
The original New York and Los Angeles
stage productions were followed by
Norman Jewison's 1973 film version.
The rock-opera first appeared - initially as an album, then a Broadway
musical and finally a film - many people condemned "Jesus Christ Superstar"
as a blasphemous "hippie" version of the last days of Jesus.
They didn't go for the flesh flashed by Christ's dancing followers.
They especially didn't like the suggestion that Jesus and Mary Magdalene
might have entertained thoughts of a non-spiritual relationship.
But years later, "Jesus Christ Superstar" is no longer controversial.
It's considered wholesome family entertainment now, a rock-spectacle-
with-a-message that enraptures audiences wherever it plays.
